Speaker:and, um, on his way to half a million
Speaker:dollars in real estate and so many
Speaker:other ventures. And his name is Damion
Speaker:Lupo. How you doing today, sir?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: I'm good. How you doing?
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Doing all right. Fantastic. So
Speaker:what's. What's been going on with you lately?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: I'm sitting here doing what Elon's doing. I'm, you know, building a
Speaker:rocket to. To Mars, kind of. I mean, it's.
Speaker:You know, my life is. Is about solving a giant
Speaker:problem, like Elon's species survive.
Speaker:And I'm. I might. We were talking bantering, um, before the
Speaker:show here, and, you know, helping America
Speaker:fix the housing crisis. Houses are too expensive. There's
Speaker:not enough of them. And so I've been spending the last few years of my
Speaker:life really narrowly focused on that one thing,
Speaker:to the point where I popped my head up this last year, and I was like, what
Speaker:year is it? I don't even know what's happening because I've been so
Speaker:fixated. And it's. I mean, when you build a
Speaker:unicorn, that's what happens. You literally go into a. Into a unicorn
Speaker:hole, like a rabbit hole, and you don't come up
Speaker:until way later. And then you say, what happened? What. What happened to the world?
Speaker:Cause it's. That's your entire focus, and that's what I've been doing.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah. And one of the things that I've always
Speaker:hear a lot of people talk about, uh, like they say, there's
Speaker:levels to money. Right. And the mindset also changed
Speaker:too. So you always hear, well, you know, follow
Speaker:your passion, solve a problem, you make money that way.
Speaker:A lot of us, we struggle to try to figure out, like, how are we
Speaker:even going to live day to day. Especially, um, when I
Speaker:focus with the sandwich generation. You got a kid and toe and then a
Speaker:parent, uh, that you take care of at the same
Speaker:time, um, how do you
Speaker:actually go from that mindset? My, that
Speaker:mindset shift from hey, I need to make this
Speaker:money to now I'm solving problems.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: So, so there's a couple of levels that people, people tend
Speaker:to go right into. It's almost like I have, look, I have
Speaker:three levels of wealth. I've, I have your secure level, I have your comfort
Speaker:level, and I have your rich level. And then there's this like
Speaker:fantasy passion level play with and they say,
Speaker:follow your passion and it's. And life is bliss. You'll never work a
Speaker:day in your life and all this nonsense. And I'm not saying
Speaker:you should be miserable the rest of your life. This isn't some Buddhist, like
Speaker:seance training or something. But what I'm saying is that if you
Speaker:follow your passion, there's going to come a day probably relatively soon where
Speaker:it's not as much fun and you're going to go chase another shiny
Speaker:nut because you're going to say, well, I want to do passion. And this
Speaker:isn't, I hate this. Like, bookkeeping sucks. I'm not a
Speaker:bookkeeper, whatever that thing is. So how do you balance
Speaker:it? What do you do? Well, first off, the reason that people go, I don't
Speaker:know how I'm going to do this, um, how am I going to go after and build something
Speaker:or create something or passion or purpose? The reason they
Speaker:don't, they don't have any energy left because they're working
Speaker:to survive. But the problem is we've, we've up
Speaker:leveled using Parkinson's law, meaning we've gone to
Speaker:the point where our expenses keep running in, they keep chasing
Speaker:our income. And I, I can tell you that most people
Speaker:are spending more money than they have to, but they, they think they
Speaker:have to, but they're choosing to. So what I'm getting at is when
Speaker:you can, you can say, okay, what do I really need? If, if your
Speaker:most important thing is to have a life of purpose, which I will tell
Speaker:you, Trump's passion. When you've got purpose,
Speaker:that's great. That's what's going to pull you through all the other stuff,
Speaker:but you've got to open up space. And what's happening is people are
Speaker:consuming all their time and energy to make money for the stuff that they don't
Speaker:really need to impress people they don't really know for things that don't really
Speaker:matter. And that's, that's the big shift. You got to like,
Speaker:simplify things and open up some space and then go after the
Speaker:purpose, not the passion. That's the trick.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Because, I mean, you've helped so many.
Speaker:Well, you helped so many people, but also you started so many
Speaker:businesses. Um, what was
Speaker:it that kept driving you to start all these different
Speaker:businesses when you're trying to chase the dollar at the same time?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: So, uh, the, the shift was I stopped chasing the
Speaker:dollar. And what I did is in the beginning,
Speaker:I mean, I made millions of dollars chasing the dollars, but it was never
Speaker:enough. And so I was like, man, I just, I, you know, I got, made a million, need
Speaker:to make two. I got a Ferrari, now I need another one. And
Speaker:it was, you know, I went from, you know, not having
Speaker:anything and, and I like my first
Speaker:house, I, I bought a rental house on my credit card. I had no
Speaker:money for a down payment, so I used my Visa.
Speaker:I really, truly came from nothing. And my, my
Speaker:Visa limit was like 10 grand. So it's not like I
Speaker:started, I did not start like Donald Trump started with a 10 or $20 million
Speaker:thing. I, I had Zippo. So, you know, people could probably
Speaker:relate to that. And, and so
Speaker:there's, there's a process where I said, okay, what, you know, what's the
Speaker:minimum I need? I wasn't out there blowing money on fancy
Speaker:bags or, I mean, I had, I had a used car and
Speaker:I mean, it was really simple. And I, I, I was a roommate.
Speaker:I didn't even have a, a place where I had a roommate. I was the roommate. I was the
Speaker:250DOL was.
Speaker:It was making those choices. And I, I don't think that
Speaker:anybody in the United States has the
Speaker:excuse that their life is too hard or they have too much
Speaker:going on because we always have this spare time. We
Speaker:all, everybody does. Even if you have a brand new baby, we
Speaker:choose to spend it on things that are not moving forward. Our
Speaker:life and our purpose and our vision and, and we go, I'm
Speaker:tired, man. I just need to watch some television because my brain's fried. I
Speaker:understand. But if you start investing, whether it's an hour a
Speaker:week or something, in that bigger future,
Speaker:Vision, things start changing, but most people don' started.
Speaker:They go, I don't have time. I'm like, you do have time, but you're choosing something
Speaker:else. That, uh, years ago, the President of the United States was
Speaker:working out every day, and I had people telling me they didn't have enough time to work
Speaker:out. And I'm like, you're busier than the President of the United States. No,
Speaker:you are lying to yourself. So that's. You got to
Speaker:stop lying to yourself. You want the, you want the hack. Stop lying.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: When, when was the. The lie
Speaker:stop being a lie to you?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: When a lie stops being a lie? Yeah,
Speaker:I don't know that. A lie is never a lie unless you, unless some. You
Speaker:get some new information that proves that you're. That you've been lying and it's actually
Speaker:the truth. So, I mean, it's. And
Speaker:this is about subjective reality versus objective reality. We
Speaker:have perspective and, and, uh,
Speaker:it's. Everybody's going to have a different opinion on
Speaker:reality. There is no, there are no two people that have the exact same
Speaker:perception. And so ultimately you have to decide, am I
Speaker:crazy? And is that okay? Because as an
Speaker:entrepreneur, as somebody that wants something different in their future
Speaker:than their past, you're going to have to get okay with being crazy.
Speaker:And what is crazy? Crazy is where you're the only one that thinks the way that you do. And
Speaker:everybody else looks at you like you're an alien zombie or something. You're like, you
Speaker:have three heads. And I. You get used to it. The
Speaker:freedom is when you let go of what other people think about you. And you
Speaker:say, I'm. I'm. I'm going to believe in myself. And you know when
Speaker:to quit and you know when to keep going. And sometimes you keep going when
Speaker:everybody says, stop, I've been there. I've also
Speaker:kept going when I should have stopped. And you go, well, what the hell?
Speaker:What's the difference? And it's called experience. And
Speaker:until you go and you, you spend an extra six months or a year
Speaker:or five years doing the wrong thing, you don't know what it is,
Speaker:and you're, uh, not going to develop the confidence. That's where
Speaker:all that, that's where financial freedom is. It's in the
Speaker:confidence because you had the experience. You can't hack
Speaker:that. You have to go through it. And it is not something you do in a
Speaker:weekend or a month or a year. It's going to take a period
Speaker:of time. Doesn't take 20 years, but it'll take longer. Than a
Speaker:month.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah, because I, uh, during my research, I,
Speaker:uh, noticed that you talked about your parents,
Speaker:uh, different, I guess you could say, the yin
Speaker:and the yang when it comes to not
Speaker:just finance, but far as the idealism that you. The
Speaker:can do attitude. And can you talk about
Speaker:that a little bit?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Yeah, it's. It's interesting because parents typically
Speaker:have two mindsets. They have one. And
Speaker:there's my mom who said, you could do anything if you want to be a rock
Speaker:star. And I was like, have you heard me sing, man? I'm scared. The cats.
Speaker:The cats are running off. They're covering their ears, their little paws. They
Speaker:are running into the woods and they're never coming back. So
Speaker:she as this optimistic and supported me. And it was like,
Speaker:I, I love you and you could do no harm, and you are Superman, like, or
Speaker:Iron man or whatever. And I was like, okay, thank you.
Speaker:But that's, that's super optimistic and no other
Speaker:thinking. And then my dad, on the other hand, is very
Speaker:pessimistic. He was afraid of everything. And so he was
Speaker:like, security, safety, it's all about closing
Speaker:the doors, locking the doors, shutting the blinds, keeping in the dark,
Speaker:and the boogeyman is going to come hunt you down and kill you and
Speaker:eat you. So I had two different perspectives,
Speaker:and I, I tended to go towards my mom's perspective. And then
Speaker:after I blew up and lost 25 million, I thought maybe my
Speaker:thinking needs to be a little pragmatic and have some,
Speaker:um, defensive thinking. Because you can be on the
Speaker:train and say, the train that's coming at me is going
Speaker:to move. And you know what? You're going to be dead
Speaker:wrong. Focus on the dead. And it's, it's
Speaker:that there's a pragmatic, realistic thinking where you
Speaker:say, you know what, the train's coming, going to run over me, so I should probably
Speaker:move instead of saying I will. Will the train
Speaker:to get off the tracks or stop. Like, there's. You
Speaker:got to have multiple think. There's a great book called Thinking for a Change.
Speaker:Highly recommend. Everybody read that because it goes through those
Speaker:different things. I did a webinar on this. The 11 different types of
Speaker:thinking. You got to get trained at using the different types of thinking
Speaker:and let your brain grow those different muscles. Otherwise you're going to be a
Speaker:lopsided, tipsy, uh, turvy type of person that's
Speaker:going to fall over all the time because you have one thing leading you and you don't
Speaker:have a balanced perspective.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah. And the reason why I bring that up is because a lot of the times,
Speaker:um, as parents, um,
Speaker:I'm not a parent, but, you know, our parents would actually
Speaker:kind of heavily enforce in the way how we actually live
Speaker:and operate today as far as having that huge
Speaker:discernment and then that kind of, like, you don't want to have
Speaker:that shame of like, hey, I told you so when you
Speaker:went to do it, go out there and do your thing. Because you talked about having that
Speaker:confidence from somebody talking about who's done the thing
Speaker:versus somebody who's speculating based on their
Speaker:experience. Um, and that's where I
Speaker:was getting back to. Like, how can you tell a lie is no longer a
Speaker:lie? Um, and which you
Speaker:have proven that it has to be done by doing
Speaker:the work. And you have all the. The tools and
Speaker:everything like that. You.
Speaker:Now that you've done the work, what are the
Speaker:key points for people who are in their 20s or
Speaker:even 30s, or even their 40s that are looking
Speaker:into getting into real estate so that they
Speaker:don't make those, um, hockey mistakes?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: So here's. Here's the. The great truth. You're going to make mistakes. Some
Speaker:of them are going to be painful and really painful. Some of them are going to be
Speaker:really expensive. It's all relative, too. Like,
Speaker:painful. There's pain and then there. Does it hurt? So
Speaker:I. I can have. I can endure a lot of pain. Done a lot of martial
Speaker:arts for 25 years. I understand how. What it feels like
Speaker:to have a punch doesn't hurt anymore. It's just a thing.
Speaker:And what. In the beginning, I was like, man, don't hit me. I'm gonna
Speaker:cry. Like, that was like, I didn't want to be hit. Then you get used
Speaker:to it. You're like, oh, uh, okay. It's just, you know, it's part of it. And it's the same thing
Speaker:with all the mistakes. With money, we think if we make a mistake,
Speaker:something's going to eat us. Like, if I make a mistake and lose
Speaker:$25 or $25,000, I'm going
Speaker:to die. I can tell you I had jobs where I could be
Speaker:eaten alive because I worked in the Arctic Circle, where polar bears would actually
Speaker:come eat you if you missed them. Like, if you didn't see them, they'd eat
Speaker:you. And I've been in the African safari, you know, on safari,
Speaker:where if you stumble into the brush and you get between mama and
Speaker:baby, mama's gonna. He's gonna eat your ass. Like, this is
Speaker:what. What happens. Money. Mistakes don't eat you.
Speaker:And so what. What is what? Just.
Speaker:You get used to it. You get used to making mistakes and that's how you lever
Speaker:up. And what do you do? Whether you're 20, 30, 40, 50,
Speaker:and you go I don't know man. I just don't want that many
Speaker:blows to the head. You have mentors that are helping you
Speaker:avoid the blows to the head because they know how to move. And.
Speaker:And you. You get people that have done it. Not people that know about it because
Speaker:they read about it but people that have actually done it. You want to do real estate?
Speaker:Go find the people that have done what you've done 10 times
Speaker:bigger. Don't go buy. Don't go. If you want to go re. Buy a
Speaker:rental house. Don't go find somebody to bought a rental house. That's the
Speaker:dumbest thing ever. Because they have zero perspective. They thing.
Speaker:And if it worked. Terrible perspective. You want the guy or the
Speaker:girl that's gone out and bought like. You know. I bought 150 houses.
Speaker:A lot of those didn't work. I wrote a book called Maverick
Speaker:Mistakes in Real Estate Investing. It was the first million I lost.
Speaker:Forget about the next 25 million. It was just the first million.
Speaker:So find the people out there and they're. They're all over the place. There's
Speaker:lots of dumb dumbs out there paid the dumb dumb tax. I'm one of them.
Speaker:You get those people and you write them a check which is way smaller
Speaker:than the check you're going to write when you do the dumb dumb thing. So this
Speaker:is. That's the hack. Then people go well, I don't know if my mentor
Speaker:is very good. I was like well, do some damn research.
Speaker:Ask the questions. Like holy crap, this isn't that hard. And.
Speaker:And you talk to a few people and then invest in.
Speaker:If you're not just investing in somebody else like
Speaker:their perfect advice. You're investing in your commitment.
Speaker:I can tell you that. You pay attention to things you pay for. And so if you go man,
Speaker:I only got. I got $2,000 and this mentor is 10.
Speaker:I'm like all right. What happens if you spent 10,000 you didn't
Speaker:have. You'd be pretty focused. And guess what probably happened.
Speaker:That 10,000 you invested probably turn into a hundred thousand pretty damn
Speaker:fast if you got the right person. 000. So
Speaker:it's. That's the great hack. If you say well, I'm not going to spend the money because
Speaker:I'm not convinced they're worth it.
Speaker:Great. Spend 20 years. What's it worth it? What's your, what's your time,
Speaker:your life worth? I can tell you there is, there is almost nothing
Speaker:that I wouldn't write a check for if I, if I can buy a time
Speaker:machine, I'm doing it. If I can go 10 years into the
Speaker:future and I can spend money to do it in a year, or I can take a
Speaker:jet that'll take me somewhere and it, it's like 10 times faster than
Speaker:hitchhiking. Guess what I'm doing? I'm writing the check. It's about
Speaker:time machines.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: So because you talked about mentorship, what is
Speaker:the difference or what is your take on
Speaker:mentorship versus coaching?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Coaches have a lot of great things to say. They can have
Speaker:really great techniques and uh, coaches are awesome. The difference with
Speaker:the mentors, mentor has been there and done that. I, I wrote an
Speaker:ebook like 15 years ago about this and there's
Speaker:value in both of them big time. The difference is
Speaker:mentors just, I mean, it's had to be balder and grayer than, than, than
Speaker:the coaches because they've, uh, they've been there. They had their ass kicked
Speaker:for so, for, you know, so many times. I like those people
Speaker:because there's a difference. You get emotional intelligence, you get
Speaker:wisdom from a mentor that's different from a coach. Coaches
Speaker:can be trained. Like you go to a therapist. Have they been through
Speaker:personally all the crap that you're going through? No, but they have a really good
Speaker:way of, of moving around through it and techniques. So
Speaker:there's. I, I have one right now that's more of a coach
Speaker:and therapist than a mentor. And he's
Speaker:brilliant. Like, he's like a damn cheat code for life. I love
Speaker:this guy, but has he done this? The businesses that,
Speaker:has he built a billion dollar company? No. Does it
Speaker:matter? No. Because I know what I'm doing.
Speaker:Investing my time in listening to him. I'm not going to
Speaker:ask him what are the techniques to hire the next 200
Speaker:people. How am I going to go Take, um, an M and A. How,
Speaker:uh, am I going to approach an M, M and A? He's going to go, I have no idea.
Speaker:But let's talk about your psychology, how you're approaching this. Like he
Speaker:understands what my thinking needs to be in a lot of
Speaker:ways. So what's, what's the, There
Speaker:are differences. Are they both valuable? Absolutely.
Speaker:Understand what you're getting into. I, and I
Speaker:think that if you have none, that's a bad choice.
Speaker:You should, everybody should have a coach or mentor. Or both.
Speaker:And a therapist or all three. Like, you're not going to
Speaker:go backwards unless you go and spend the money and then
Speaker:ignore them or. Or just go there and yak and don't pay
Speaker:attention and do the work. Whenever I go, I do work
Speaker:afterwards. That's usually two to ten times more
Speaker:time than the actual time in session. Like,
Speaker:you go to it. We have the Super Bowl. We're recording this the day
Speaker:before the Super Bowl.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: You.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Do you think that these people do more than just go to the game?
Speaker:Like, they're practicing. They're practicing in their. In there when they're
Speaker:sleeping, they're practicing in their mind at dinner. They're doing game
Speaker:tapes. Like, you got to be willing to think like that.
Speaker:Think like a pro. What do pros do? Why are they so
Speaker:successful? Because they're doing all this stuff that you don't
Speaker:see. That's. That's what you got to do. Same thing.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: I like that because when it comes to the
Speaker:finances, and this is the reason why I harp
Speaker:on, more than likely the psychology
Speaker:of the finances and how everybody actually
Speaker:operate with the money that they get, because we can all get it, but
Speaker:we spend more on our feelings than we do
Speaker:the actual logical thing. Like, hey, yes.
Speaker:Spend your money on the necessity, the necessities. Do you
Speaker:really need that steak dinner? No, you want it? Uh,
Speaker:do you really need to eat meat? No, you want it.
Speaker:Um, and the reason why I talked to you about this, because I know you spent a lot of
Speaker:time on a mindset, uh, as you were
Speaker:growing up and going through this process. What, um,
Speaker:was the thing that
Speaker:really changed your perspective
Speaker:on life when you got down to
Speaker:zero, when you lost everything?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Well, going past zero is even more valuable than going to zero.
Speaker:When you have nothing, it's one thing. When you have negative 5 million, that's a
Speaker:totally different experience. And so I got that. And. And it's.
Speaker:It's like the pain. So we. We tend to pay
Speaker:attention to things like, for example, when you make a mistake and you
Speaker:lose, way better teacher than when you win. So somebody that
Speaker:says, I've never lost money on an investment, I will never invest with them.
Speaker:I want to know what you've learned when you screw up.
Speaker:So, uh, you know, that's. That was the process for me. I had to
Speaker:go through the thing where I lost all that money, ended up homeless,
Speaker:literally living out of my car in Northern Arizona
Speaker:in January. It's freaking cold. I don't care where you are right
Speaker:now. You're probably not living in your car. Some of you might be. But I can tell
Speaker:you I can relate, and it sucks. And you know
Speaker:what? I had to make some different. Some different choices. It doesn't
Speaker:matter where you are. I can tell you that there's a path, there's a road path from
Speaker:wherever you are to $10 million in 10 years. I wrote
Speaker:a 10 minute ebook on this thing you can download if you
Speaker:want later. And it's. There's a process of doing
Speaker:this. And you're. You're exactly right. Do you want the steak or do you need
Speaker:the steak? Well, like, I wanted
Speaker:alcohol, and I did that for many, many
Speaker:years, almost every day. And, uh, and did I want
Speaker:it or need it? I absolutely wanted it. But what did I
Speaker:really want? I wanted the thing that it was associated to it. What
Speaker:I needed was I needed freaking water to hydrate me and
Speaker:you know, like. And I needed things that were actually
Speaker:sustenance, food things. And it's the same thing
Speaker:with money. We have all these things. You're. You're spot on. It's a, uh, it's a
Speaker:matter of wants. We, we. But, uh, what happens is we, we
Speaker:go back, go back, going back to this. We trade our time and
Speaker:energy for all this crap that we want that makes
Speaker:us feel better. So we have successful moments. Instead of a
Speaker:fulfilled life and what we deeply want, at a
Speaker:core primal level, we want a fulfilled life. We
Speaker:want to know that there's meaning. We don't want to get to the end and go, oh, man,
Speaker:I just had a whole bunch, a whole bunch of steak dinners. But I didn't really go after
Speaker:my dreams, my vision. I didn't connect with people.
Speaker:Wow. Why was that? Because I was afraid to actually
Speaker:invest in myself and trust myself and do all
Speaker:the work. So we just do the things that feel good in the moment.
Speaker:And unfortunately, society has gotten relatively easy
Speaker:in this country. In the United States, it's relatively
Speaker:easy and you can get away with it. And the problem is, you
Speaker:get to the end of your life, you're gonna go, ah.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: That'S gonna be. You go, let's take all the way. Last
Speaker:words.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Uh-huh.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Uh, but what was it that, that got you out of that
Speaker:rut? Uh, when you actually come and start coming back,
Speaker:be like, you know what I need, I need to stop doing
Speaker:this. Um, I know you say to invest in yourself, but
Speaker:what was that first thing that got you there?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: So there's a, there's a cycle of grief that we.
Speaker:That you go through for a lot of different things. And so I went through
Speaker:it. First off, you pretend it didn't happen. You're just like, oh, I'm gonna
Speaker:ignore it. And then you get really mad at somebody and then you
Speaker:deny it again in a different form. And you go
Speaker:through all these things and finally when you move through that. The thing
Speaker:that they got me through it was I spent 18
Speaker:months with, with a guy coach therapist and we asked one
Speaker:question and the question is, what is true? So
Speaker:you asked about lying. Well, I was do. I was, I was a damn good
Speaker:liar. Lying to myself and pretending I remember,
Speaker:look, having dinner with a friend of mine and showing him my
Speaker:black card, my American Express black card. You can buy a Lamborghini or a
Speaker:Jet on this thing. And I was all excited. I was like, yeah, I still got my
Speaker:black card. I don't think I mentioned that it got declined at
Speaker:Costco when I was trying to buy toilet paper. So it wasn't really, you
Speaker:know, it was a lie. So what was true? I wanted
Speaker:people to like me. I wanted the significance. We all
Speaker:want that. We have a basic human need for connection. I wanted
Speaker:to connect. And it was unfortunate. There was a lot of
Speaker:superficial thing
Speaker:going on with. I'm going to show people and they're going to,
Speaker:man, did they like me or my black card? I think, I don't know, man,
Speaker:like probably a combination that's like, ah, he's got a black card, he's going
Speaker:to pay for dinner. And you know, I wasn't not
Speaker:with the black card because that thing was off. And ah,
Speaker:so getting to the point where I was willing to do the work and asking what
Speaker:is true?
Speaker:That's, that is true for everybody. Going deeper
Speaker:into what is true. It was one question for 18
Speaker:months over and over and it would just layer
Speaker:after layer. And then I wrote this book called reinvented life in
Speaker:2012 about what that was. Looking back
Speaker:10 years. What was true. What was true is that I was a money
Speaker:chasing primal monkey. I mean I was
Speaker:just out there, uh, and I was like, the world's, one of the world's
Speaker:greatest hedonists. I was out there chasing the steak
Speaker:and the champagne and, and all the, the feelings, the
Speaker:emotions. And what I wasn't doing was going deep
Speaker:into the stuff. Like, what's the core? Why am I here? Back to the
Speaker:purpose versus the passion. I was very passionate about the
Speaker:stimulation, man. I was like overstimulated. The only thing I wasn't doing was
Speaker:cocaine. Everything else I, man, I, I had the story
Speaker:about the the shift into purpose.
Speaker:What am I going to do for other people? It went from internal
Speaker:focus to external meaning. It went from me, what's in it, uh,
Speaker:for me to what's in it for other people. And the moment
Speaker:that happened where that was the obsession, it was very
Speaker:Grant Cardone. Be obsessed or be average. I was obsessed about
Speaker:how am I going to free a million people from financial bondage.
Speaker:I think money is modern day slave going to do
Speaker:that. I know what the mission is. I know what my purpose is. It's to
Speaker:free a million people. Okay. How am I going to take what
Speaker:I've learned and the tools that are out there
Speaker:to go break all these, these shackles? And that's
Speaker:what's evolved over the last 13 years into these different
Speaker:businesses. But it was the mission, it was the purpose that
Speaker:was driving it. It wasn't just what's going to be fun or what's going to
Speaker:make me a bunch of money. All that crap is a losing game.
Speaker:And, and when you do, when you have that obsession about something
Speaker:that's that meaningful for other people,
Speaker:you'll be blown away at how much money shows
Speaker:up as a side effect. But when you're focused on the money, you're
Speaker:a. And that's where most people are. I was. So
Speaker:I get what it's like to be a hooker. Like, hey, hooker for a hundred dollar
Speaker:bill. Like, let's go. Whatever it is, I'll trade my time for the dollars. That's a
Speaker:hooker. And we all are good at it in
Speaker:different forums. It's like, wait, I don't want to be a good hooker. That sucks.
Speaker:That's not my, ah, I want to.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Be the worst one.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Tell your mom, hey, mom, I'm a good hooker. They're like, Mom's like,
Speaker:you know, like, this is not a good plan, but it's what we
Speaker:do as a default because nobody is saying it's okay to
Speaker:actually focus on something that's meaningful and deep. And
Speaker:it's going to be hard. Now mom wants us to be safe and happy and,
Speaker:and not hurting. So mom says go get a, go get a college
Speaker:education, get a job, and then you spend 40 years miserable.
Speaker:That's not a good piece of advice. It is
Speaker:a very selfish piece of advice that a lot of parents give
Speaker:their kids because they don't want their kids to be hurt. But
Speaker:ultimately the biggest hurt is when you have regret and you go,
Speaker:man, I never went for it. That's what sucks.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: So what would be your advice? Like the one thing instead of
Speaker:saying, like, oh, don't worry about it. What
Speaker:yours?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Uh, my. My. My advice is to be honest. Like, let's. Let's get
Speaker:away from the lion. Let's. Let's be honest about where you are. And
Speaker:when you say, I, I don't know. I don't have time. I don't. I can't afford it.
Speaker:Like, look at your life. I always say that there's three
Speaker:Cs. Your calendar, your credit cards, and your
Speaker:cash. So, like, what the hell are you spending your time
Speaker:on? What are you spending your money on? What have
Speaker:you spent your money on? Like, look at your credit cards. If you got a
Speaker:big balance, it's like, well, all right, what was all the crap that you thought was important
Speaker:that you're still paying on? You're still trading your time? Look at your
Speaker:cash. What. Do you have any cash? And.
Speaker:And then your calendar. Like, people, when
Speaker:I talk about cash, it's. It's also like what's around you. Are
Speaker:you sitting on a house that you can't afford so that you can
Speaker:look good so you can be in the right neighborhood? Most people can
Speaker:do. They can have a lot. That deeper
Speaker:simplification of their. With their lives. And what that does is it
Speaker:opens up space because the more stuff, the more
Speaker:complex, the more time and energy and money is required to keep it going.
Speaker:And you're spinning plates and you never. It's exhausting.
Speaker:I mean, I. Holy. I've done this for years. And it's like, wait,
Speaker:my theme in 2025 is simplicity. How
Speaker:many. What can I do to simplify my life? Who needs four
Speaker:Vitamixes? Apparently, I was like, this is out
Speaker:of control. Why do I have four? I actually might even have five, now
Speaker:that I think about it. And I have a bullet. Like, what, What? I'm, um,
Speaker:one guy. I don't even have a dog yet. Like, but
Speaker:I had all these Vitamixes. This is crazy. But
Speaker:we do this stuff, and we all have versions of that in some
Speaker:form. And, you know, unless you're the freaking Dalai Lama, you're
Speaker:probably a little bit more complex than you should be. And that's. That.
Speaker:That's benefiting you. Like, it's costing you.
Speaker:So what. What. What's the advice? Simplify your
Speaker:life. First off, you got to figure out what is true about
Speaker:your life. What are you spending money on? What's real? How much of
Speaker:your life is being spent paying for crap you made, decisions you
Speaker:made 10 years ago that you're still dragging along? How quickly can you
Speaker:Go attack that, man. I don't have any money. You know what? You could
Speaker:probably go Uber one day a week and kill all that debt in a
Speaker:year or two, but you don't want to do it because you go. You want to go watch football every weekend
Speaker:and drink beer and hang out and do the fun stuff, man, you already made
Speaker:price. You already made choices for those things that you're
Speaker:carrying along in your past. Deal with it.
Speaker:Be an adult. You gotta get the. Get this shirt, man. I'm gonna adult
Speaker:for the next two years. I'm adulting. It sucks, but I'm gonna do it anyway.
Speaker:And then you have this freedom. So it's making that choice. Is
Speaker:it your life or are you a victim? Are you going to take responsibility
Speaker:or are you going to be a martyr to some other crap that you're going to buy into
Speaker:that somebody tells you it's okay? It's okay. You're. You're a
Speaker:victim. No, you're not. You're just being a child.
Speaker:So let's grow up and let's take, like, let's take control. That's where
Speaker:all the power and joy of life is, man.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Okay, see, I could sit here in. In
Speaker:this realm of the mentality piece, but
Speaker:obviously you're. You're more than just the
Speaker:thinker in the process.
Speaker:We also got to talk about the doing. Um, and that comes
Speaker:in from the real estate side of the house, which is, I
Speaker:would say more likely your passion at this point or just kind of like
Speaker:a. A byproduct of all your passions or
Speaker:that kind of got you out of your. Your rut.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: The. The real estate's been interesting because I did real
Speaker:estate, and that was more of a money thing. What, What I know that's
Speaker:true is, is real estate matters for humans. It's.
Speaker:It's not like watches are cool, but do they matter for
Speaker:humans? No, they don't really matter that much. Like, I think
Speaker:watches are kind of cool, but, you know, if I had no watches and I never
Speaker:saw another watch, it would not change my life. Real
Speaker:estate matters. And, like, especially with housing.
Speaker:So the reason that I'm excited about real estate is because
Speaker:it. It is a part of the thing that I'm pouring
Speaker:myself into. And then hundreds of people have poured their self, their
Speaker:time, their money, and their. And their energy into.
Speaker:And it's. It's about creating more real estate, more of the
Speaker:property for people to live in. Like, it's a pretty.
Speaker:It's like that and food. I mean, food and shelter.
Speaker:Like, these are the two core things. And so if you're, if you're involved in
Speaker:those things, there's, There's. That's pretty meaningful. Unless you're doing a
Speaker:bunch of GMO crap and killing people with Monsanto. Like,
Speaker:if you're part of Monsanto, man, I don't have any respect. Like, sorry,
Speaker:but I don't, uh, actually not sorry, but there's. And,
Speaker:you know, if you're doing. If you're building whorehouses in Amsterdam,
Speaker:I'm probably not very impressed with your real estate focus, but
Speaker:they're like, for what we're doing, I think it's very meaningful for, For.
Speaker:For benefiting society. So it's. There is
Speaker:passion about it, but it's actually hard. So a lot of days
Speaker:there's not passion, but there's an intense focus on
Speaker:the purpose of doing this thing that's going to change society for the
Speaker:better. And that's. That's what we're doing. I mean, you know,
Speaker:when you. When you have 10 million missing houses,
Speaker:at least, probably more like 15 million in the United
Speaker:States, and you get to be a part of something, I mean, we're doing
Speaker:something that's fixing that problem with frame tag, like that,
Speaker:that's really meaningful. So there, you know, even
Speaker:if I'm not being paid, I'm still obsessed. I'm like, oh, do we get
Speaker:paid this month? I don't know. It's like when you get to the
Speaker:point of finding that thing where the money. You just. You
Speaker:stop thinking. You're so full of. Focus on
Speaker:something else. And you know somebody's going to say, well, must be easy for
Speaker:you to say. No, it's not easy for me to say.
Speaker:It's something I say every day. I've been saying it for a long time when
Speaker:I had no money and I was literally living out of my car. Like,
Speaker:there's. It's. It's a choice you make. And when you
Speaker:start saying that stuff with energy, not the mantra
Speaker:where you say, I'm, I'm a money machine. I'm a money
Speaker:machine. I'm like this crap that people tell you to say in the morning. Yeah,
Speaker:okay, so lie to yourself for five minutes straight and see what happens.
Speaker:You got it. You got to have some energy behind it. Like, why. Why
Speaker:are you a money machine? Are you actually a creation machine?
Speaker:Are you an impact machine? Money is a side effect. Stop going
Speaker:after the side effect. It's lunacy. It's not the right move.
Speaker:The right move is, I am a creation
Speaker:machine. I am the person that's going impact and lift
Speaker:up other people and here, like, that's who you believe
Speaker:you are. Everybody's gonna get the hell out of the way or they're gonna get on
Speaker:your train because it's a different energy.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah, I like that.
Speaker:Um, when it comes to real estate
Speaker:and somebody's just getting into it, a lot of times you hear
Speaker:about a lot of the gurus say like, oh, yeah, you can just start money
Speaker:with no money. Like, you can get into real estate with no money.
Speaker:Um, what are your thoughts on that one?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: I did, I mean, I, it was, it was Chase Banks money. When I,
Speaker:I went, I went and bought that house and I, I took
Speaker:a cash advance on my credit card. Hard wasn't my m. I mean, it was
Speaker:sort of like future Damien's money. I had to go get it somehow.
Speaker:And, and so you. There's. Yes. Are, uh, the tools and
Speaker:the tactics there. Can you do it? Yes. Is, is it crazy
Speaker:from most people's perspective to go do zero down? Yeah.
Speaker:And does it work? Yeah, if you do. And
Speaker:so like, that's, that's the hack. People are like, what should I
Speaker:do? I'm like, I have no freaking idea. But whatever you do, go
Speaker:do it. Don't just like, start it, but do it all the
Speaker:way through. And, and, and you know, think about it
Speaker:with other people that have insight that,
Speaker:you know, what do people do in real estate? Get around to people that have actually
Speaker:already done it, that are still doing it better.
Speaker:But absolutely, people that have done it. Not
Speaker:just, uh, you don't want somebody that did it 40 damn years ago.
Speaker:You also don't want somebody that did it one time or they're telling
Speaker:you they're going to do it. Like, you got to find people that have, that
Speaker:actually have that deep experience. That's the hack.
Speaker:And then you go, well, which, which real estate should I do? Should I do
Speaker:short term rentals? Should I do commercial? I have no idea. It
Speaker:depends on where you are. It depends what you're trying to do.
Speaker:And when you think about if you
Speaker:could figure out a way to have a deep meaning
Speaker:behind, like, if you're doing commercial and you're like, here's why I'm doing commercial.
Speaker:If you're just like, I'm going to make a million dollars a year or I'm
Speaker:going to flip apartments or whatever you're doing, man, if you're just trying
Speaker:to take money, it's never going to work. And that's
Speaker:what most people are doing. They're trying to take money. How do I use real
Speaker:estate to take money? No, man. The universe
Speaker:will feed you. M. And, I mean, you'll get fat if you're. If you're
Speaker:producing enough. Of course, you'd be running so fast, you probably burn it
Speaker:off. But I mean, that. That's. That's just the truth.
Speaker:You got ask yourself, why am I doing this? There's
Speaker:lots of reasons to do real estate. There's lots of good reasons that are
Speaker:deeply meaningful and fulfilling, that will drive you when it's
Speaker:hard. But if it's just the money, you should quit.
Speaker:100. You should quit. It's got to be more than just the
Speaker:money. That's, you know, uh, it's, uh, about the wallet. It. It's
Speaker:not about the money. Get that out of your damn head. People
Speaker:like you, you got to let the money be the side effect. Go figure
Speaker:out why you're doing real estate. There is a. There are a million ways to make
Speaker:money in real estate, and if one doesn't work,
Speaker:go do something else. Like, people get obsessed. Oh, uh, it's
Speaker:got to. It's got to work. It's got to be. This has to. I. I'm going
Speaker:to force this thing. I'm like, stop forcing things.
Speaker:That's like yelling at. At a. At a plant. It's not
Speaker:growing fast enough. The universe, God has a plan.
Speaker:There's called seasons, people. It's not like you can yell at
Speaker:the seed and it'll grow faster, man. You got to nurture that thing. You got
Speaker:to wait for it. It has its own schedule. Stop trying
Speaker:to. I've tried to force things. It's called flipping. I tried to flip.
Speaker:I had five out of five foreclosures. I am the world's worst
Speaker:flipper. Not. There are people that make money doing flipping, but
Speaker:that was me trying to force. Instead of nurturing, instead of
Speaker:building, instead of. Instead of finding ways to
Speaker:add more value over a period of time. But you know
Speaker:why we don't do that? Because we're freaking impatient. I want
Speaker:it now. Okay. Got it. That's like
Speaker:people saying, I want to be.
Speaker:I want to have a six pack. I'm like, you got a keg? It's going to take you
Speaker:more than a week. You got to do that gym for the next two damn
Speaker:years. I know this personally because I was looking at myself, and I was
Speaker:like, ah, dude, you are fat. Like, you are. Uh, this
Speaker:is embarrassing. What is going on here? I'm like, well, you know, I like to Hang out. I like to
Speaker:have my beers. And. And now that stopped. That's. That
Speaker:stopped. My obsession was, I'm going to the gym
Speaker:over and over and over again. And I got a coach and I'm
Speaker:eating different and I'm drinking that water. It's not. It's
Speaker:different than wine. But I'll tell you what, there's no calories, and I sleep
Speaker:better. And it's like doing that stuff, doing
Speaker:the work. But, you know, it. There's a great book, a
Speaker:bunch of books by Larry Wingate. One of them is shut up. Stop
Speaker:whining. Get a life. The other one is it your life is your own
Speaker:damn fault. It's true. Your life is your own damn
Speaker:fault. Nobody else is. Stop blaming somebody. Go do the work.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: I like that. Um, I like that because before and during the
Speaker:recording, we were just talking about, um, having as
Speaker:much guac as you can when, uh, you go to Chipotle.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Yeah.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: It is like, you could have it. Yeah, sure. But
Speaker:do you want to pee green?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Like it. It. Also, it.
Speaker:I mean, there's, There are consequences if you have, like, if you have too much
Speaker:of a good thing. It's, it's, you know, like, there
Speaker:are things that. I mean, I don't care what you're talking about. You'd be talking about sex,
Speaker:man. There's. There is a point where there's too much sex. You're like, I. We got to
Speaker:do a time out here for a while. It's the same thing with anything you're doing,
Speaker:consuming. There. There is a. There's too much of it, and
Speaker:you do something and you don't sleep. That's too much of it. It could
Speaker:be the world's best thing, but you got to sleep. There are natural
Speaker:seasons and, and, and rhythms that if you embrace,
Speaker:they'll serve you. If you fight them, they'll break you.
Speaker:And sometimes you don't know what those are. This is where the, the
Speaker:mentor or people that will tell you the truth come into play.
Speaker:Man, you. You're sleeping. Like, I've had this crazy sleep
Speaker:rhythm. I don't know why. Sometimes I wake up at 1:00, I'm like, ready to
Speaker:go. Yeah, yeah. But if you went to sleep at 10, three hours
Speaker:is not going to work. It's not healthy. So having
Speaker:somebody say, well, maybe that's not the best plan. Maybe
Speaker:you should just lay there and at least be still.
Speaker:Whatever it is, having people around you that'll tell you the
Speaker:truth, huge hack for life, man. You got to have Those people that
Speaker:will tell you the truth even if it hurts, and then you're. You respect
Speaker:them enough to say, okay, uh, I hear you, and then
Speaker:shut your damn mouth and go do something about it.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah, I am a big fan of Herkle Derkel.
Speaker:Um, just sit there when you're supposed to be getting out of bed.
Speaker:Um, fun times.
Speaker:So, you know, I want to go back to, uh, because you
Speaker:mentioned frame tech. You know why
Speaker:frame tech is such a big passion project
Speaker:for you?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Frame tech is a solution. And, and I get to be a part
Speaker:of the solution and pour myself and take decades of.
Speaker:Of all the experiences launching 70 plus
Speaker:companies, all the, all the pain and failures and everything else.
Speaker:It's taking all that. That's just me. And then there's all these other people that are
Speaker:like, incredible that I get to work with.
Speaker:Why is it passion? Why is there so much purpose
Speaker:there? It's something that's big enough to
Speaker:where if I died in the middle of it, I
Speaker:was fulfilled by a purpose. It wasn't just
Speaker:a fun thing. Uh, most days are really hard and
Speaker:it's like jumping into an ice bath and then just sitting there. You're like,
Speaker:this freaking sucks. But I do it anyway
Speaker:and do it every day anyway. The
Speaker:idea that people are struggling, a lot of it has to do with their
Speaker:food and their housing. It's like they can't.
Speaker:Well, why is that? Well, with the housing, it's because
Speaker:there's not enough housing. And it's because we're not producing
Speaker:enough. And we. Well, partly is a lot of bad regulations, but
Speaker:it's also. It's just it. There's no, there's no
Speaker:real innovation that's happened. Not really in, in main,
Speaker:in housing, it's basically you're building the house the same way you've been building it for
Speaker:70 years with a nail gun. That's when it got invented.
Speaker:1954. The. What we've
Speaker:done is we've looked at things and the innovators have said
Speaker:there's a different way to do this. Let's do this where we have. We can
Speaker:build the framing for a house four times faster.
Speaker:Let's do it 10 times better. Let's do it with 99
Speaker:less waste. So instead of a dumpster full of wood, we have
Speaker:a bag full of sawdust and let's
Speaker:do it for the same price. That is a
Speaker:fundamental change. And what we're doing is we're bringing a lot more
Speaker:housing to the market. And when you bring a lot more housing
Speaker:and you have better quality and you do it that much faster, guess
Speaker:what happens? The prices drop. So we're,
Speaker:we're, everybody's winning here except for the legacy. I don't give a
Speaker:crap about the legacy. It's like all the junk that's being found out in
Speaker:Washington D.C. i don't care about USAID, that's, that's
Speaker:wasting $40 billion a year and all these people that are
Speaker:corrupt. I care about that legacy being taken out of the
Speaker:knees. Same thing with, with construction. How do we take
Speaker:out those old thinkings and remove them? Put in
Speaker:place new thinking that produces the solution. That's what frame
Speaker:tech is.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: I um, like that because especially with the recent
Speaker:like wildfires in California.
Speaker:I know there's so many other ones that are happening, but that's been the one
Speaker:that's been circulating the most. You gotta love
Speaker:media, right?
Speaker:So what um, are your
Speaker:thoughts on actually building out
Speaker:ah, con, like more of a concrete structure
Speaker:instead of the wooden matchstick houses as some people
Speaker:actually call them.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: A lot of places in the world, that's what they primarily do. And a lot of it has
Speaker:to do with places like say Southeast Asia. A lot of concrete
Speaker:because you have, we have wind and rain and, and it's just
Speaker:a sure. Concrete is very
Speaker:polluting. Um, that's one of the problems with it. When you're,
Speaker:when you're doing concrete, there's a ton of energy required and energy
Speaker:comes from somewhere. Right now it's a lot of oil and coal and no
Speaker:matter what you do, you're going to burn energy. Energy is, is not
Speaker:necessarily the best thing for the environment in terms of how we consume
Speaker:it. So concrete is a problem. Just the, the
Speaker:way to get concrete, the way to use it and it's, it's
Speaker:not necessarily renewable. Trees are renewable.
Speaker:92% of the housing is built and framed with,
Speaker:you know, the structure, the bones if you will, is,
Speaker:that's totally renewable. And most, uh, almost
Speaker:all housing that has boards, has
Speaker:frames, is, comes from forests that are
Speaker:forests grown to provide the wood. They're not old
Speaker:growth, they're not the redwoods. So it is incredibly
Speaker:sustainable. And that's, that's one of the things, that's why it's being
Speaker:used and that's why we use it. And instead of wasting
Speaker:30% of the trees, we're using 99
Speaker:of them. So this is way better than any type
Speaker:of concrete. Now
Speaker:the question about the tinderbox and, and fires, that's always
Speaker:going to be a thing. And the question is, you Got to
Speaker:have some better, smarter policies. You know, things like do we just let
Speaker:everything sit on the, on the forest floor and let it turn into a
Speaker:potential disaster or do we thin it out? Do we burn
Speaker:things? There are smarter ways. But then you get politicians who
Speaker:think they're freaking God and they do dumb things and
Speaker:they go, oh, we're going to protect the forest. And then you burn down the entire
Speaker:civilization. What the hell? So, I mean,
Speaker:there's, it's a bigger conversation, but
Speaker:ultimately what we're doing is we're producing something that, that
Speaker:serves the people and the environment.
Speaker:And you know, it's, it's just hard if Gavin Newsom's
Speaker:involved.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah,
Speaker:so many ways to go about that one. Uh, because
Speaker:I was thinking about that recently and I
Speaker:was like, why can't people just get rid of the, the trees around their
Speaker:house houses? And it was like, well, they. Society not
Speaker:letting us do it. The laws are holding us against.
Speaker:From what we need to do for housing. Um,
Speaker:yeah, just. I'm sorry, just. That was just
Speaker:one of the ones that were irritating for me.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Um, there's a, there's a lot of stuff that doesn't make sense, and
Speaker:usually it doesn't make sense because you don't have people that are thoughtful or
Speaker:intelligent that are in the decision matrix with, with
Speaker:governments and regulations and things and making decision
Speaker:to, you know, to save a, uh, smelt or whatever this
Speaker:fish was and not having water available to put out a fire.
Speaker:Like you get people making those type of decisions, which
Speaker:is why it's, it's better to have people making decisions at a
Speaker:localized level instead of having an iron fist from,
Speaker:from a state capital or something and saying it's only going to be this
Speaker:way. Most people know, like, I, I trust
Speaker:you to know better about what matters to you than
Speaker:I know. But we get a lot of people that think that they're so
Speaker:smart that they should be able to inflict their will on everybody.
Speaker:And I just fundamentally disagree with that. So, so if you
Speaker:let, if you let natural most things, there are
Speaker:some things, like I remember, uh, you know, years ago,
Speaker:there was a lot of companies that were polluting the crap out of the waterways
Speaker:like the Hudson. And Robert Kennedy went in and he fought and he beat
Speaker:him back and he cleaned it up. Well, if you have pure, pure
Speaker:capitalism, companies can go do that. Well, at some point
Speaker:some government has to go do some things, but
Speaker:it shouldn't be doing all the crap it's doing. It's doing too many
Speaker:things at this point. And, and you see some of the, the
Speaker:results. So when, with frame tech, frame tech is not the
Speaker:government saying, we've got a solution. Frame tech is doing
Speaker:something and, and, and please, and asking the government get the hell out of the
Speaker:way. And so that's, that's the balance.
Speaker:Most of the time when you get government out of the way, you're going to have
Speaker:innovators that will create new things. And, and that's what you're seeing
Speaker:with, with frame tech. It's, it's creating something and the go,
Speaker:somebody in the government's going to take credit for it, probably the governor.
Speaker:Arizona should be like, oh yeah, I did this. It's like, I
Speaker:think I, I, I want to say, I forget if it
Speaker:was, I don't know if it was one of the presidents, Obama or,
Speaker:or Kamala or somebody was, was like, I, I'm
Speaker:responsible for this. You know, it's somebody, uh, that like, they
Speaker:created all the jobs. I'm like, you didn't create the jobs. What the hell?
Speaker:You, you destroy jobs. And, and like the
Speaker:housing. Nobody, nobody in government's going to create housing. It's going to
Speaker:be people like us that are out there building it. Their job is
Speaker:to get out of the way. Yeah.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: And then they could take the credit once they get out the way.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Yeah, they'll take the credit anyway, but at least they got it out of the way. We get it
Speaker:done.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: So what other challenges are you having when you're trying to do this
Speaker:particular solution?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: I, uh, mean, the, the challenge is that you want to do it faster because you know
Speaker:how big the demand is. And that's the, the challenge
Speaker:is it's very, very complicated to build. I mean, you have a
Speaker:hundred plus thousand square feet and you have robots that have
Speaker:advanced AI and you're doing all these things. Our, our facility here in
Speaker:Central Arizona is the most technologically advanced facility of its
Speaker:kind in the world. It, that isn't easy,
Speaker:man. You want to go flip a house, that's easy. Building a
Speaker:manufacturing plant, not so easy. And, and so
Speaker:I like, I have a lot more respect for Elon Musk talking about how hard it
Speaker:was and is to build cyber trucks. And I'm going, ah,
Speaker:uh, yeah, I can start to appreciate that. So the
Speaker:challenge is these, it's just, it's
Speaker:complicated and you have, you can have the best people in the world. You still
Speaker:have bugs. It's like software. We always get these updates on our software.
Speaker:Oh, fix it. I'm like, I thought you fixed it in version
Speaker:84,000. They're like, oh, no, we got new problems. Like, this
Speaker:is never fixed. And. But it's. It's the same
Speaker:thing. It's. The challenge is. There's always challenges. And
Speaker:you're never going to. People go, I just want to have passive
Speaker:income. I m like, so you just want money to. To come in
Speaker:and it shows up no matter what? I'm like, all right. So if
Speaker:you do that, if you say, I got my money and it's. And so. And so is going
Speaker:to give me a return, I never have to think about it. Watch what
Speaker:happens. It's called the law of entropy. If you don't put energy into something,
Speaker:it dies. Go. Go tell your partner. If you're married,
Speaker:go tell your partner, hey, I'd like to have passive sex the rest of the next
Speaker:20 years. Guess how long that marriage is going to last. They're
Speaker:leave. They're like, you're lame. This sucks. This is
Speaker:terrible. Like, you can't just be passive. You got to be engaged.
Speaker:And same thing with your money. Um, that's a
Speaker:huge mistake. A lot of people do because they're so tired from their work.
Speaker:Uh, they're like, I don't have more time to give to my money
Speaker:to create investments. I just want to hand my money over.
Speaker:Guess what? People are waiting for you to do that, and they're going to steal from you. That's
Speaker:what happens. Unfortunately, all the time, whether
Speaker:it's Wall street or individual charlatans, people
Speaker:are doing that. That. But it's a lot harder for that to
Speaker:happen if you're actively involved, asking questions, hiring
Speaker:mentors, being a part of teams. So I.
Speaker:That's. That's a huge lesson for people because you hear it all the time anymore. I just
Speaker:want to have money showing up in my mailbox. Mim
Speaker:Mailbox. Oh, my God. And it's.
Speaker:Yeah, that can last. But you know how many Ponzi schemes
Speaker:rely on that? All of them.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Y.
Speaker:And so this brings us to the. The third
Speaker:segment of the show, which is the features. Um,
Speaker:so looking ahead when it comes to the
Speaker:construction space, what do you think is the
Speaker:next big disruption in
Speaker:construction that people aren't really paying attention to
Speaker:yet?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: The big thing that's coming in construction.
Speaker:What we're doing at Frametech is truly going to change the entire market. M.
Speaker:Um, there's stuff. What's really
Speaker:cool is there's lots of people that are tinkering around the edges. 3D
Speaker:printing is the thing. Uh, all of these things
Speaker:are useful. So I Look at, I look at all these different companies and these
Speaker:innovators, and I go, awesome, awesome, awesome. People say, what about this?
Speaker:Is this going to impact frame tech? I'm like, it's going to
Speaker:impact society because we're helping. It's a blue ocean. There's
Speaker:so much demand, there's so much, such a big problem. We need all
Speaker:the people solving it that we can get. So what's the
Speaker:thing, you know, the thing that's going to, that's going to blow us up is
Speaker:the thing that nobody's thinking about and it's going to come out of left field and we're going to
Speaker:say, oh, it's going to be blue energy from aliens.
Speaker:It's going to be something that, it's going to be some material science
Speaker:where we go, oh, we can, we can
Speaker:replicate this thing out of thin air. We can print
Speaker:it, we can take air molecules and turn it into wood.
Speaker:Like the, the alchemy that Leonardo da Vinci talked about
Speaker:in his machines. Like, something like that
Speaker:could very well happen. You know, plasma energy,
Speaker:like fusion, there's. Because ultimately, I
Speaker:mean, Trump, whether you love them or hate them, it doesn't matter. It's the energy
Speaker:thing is the core of our society. And if, if you can solve
Speaker:energy, everything else, everything is based on the
Speaker:energy from your food to your housing. And so
Speaker:what's the thing that disrupts or does something
Speaker:to real estate, to housing? It's probably
Speaker:energy, quite frankly, probably in wood or concrete. It's, it's
Speaker:something that makes the energy basically free
Speaker:and harnessing the sun, but not with our
Speaker:current, current technology harnessing the, the
Speaker:atom or, or plasma. Like, there's going to be something
Speaker:that happens probably not too far in the future
Speaker:because we've got a confluence of
Speaker:computing power and AI. You've got
Speaker:AI that's now becoming aware and thinking and solving
Speaker:problems. So we're over there with all these minds and the
Speaker:network effect of the Internet, with all these brilliant
Speaker:people that are thinking and thinking together and leveraging off each
Speaker:other. Well, crap, now you got 100 billion AIs
Speaker:that are all thinking together and they're doing it faster with more complete
Speaker:information than the people. How fast do you think they're going to be
Speaker:and how long is it going to take for them to solve some of these problems from medicine,
Speaker:medicine and, and health to housing. You watch, it's
Speaker:gonna be faster than you think and it's gonna blow us away and it's gonna freak most
Speaker:people out.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Yeah, I, uh, I, um, I know we're gonna jump out the rods
Speaker:on this one because for the future for me, I'm
Speaker:actually looking forward to AI
Speaker:handling all my blood work and then providing me
Speaker:with an actual thing based on my
Speaker:DNA. It's saying like, hey, these are the right medicines for you, these are
Speaker:the right concoctions, and these are right food for you to
Speaker:have. Um, because I went to a nutritionist recently
Speaker:and I was like, hey, what should I
Speaker:eat? And they was like, oh, you should have these
Speaker:basic food groups. And they're going to look at the Del Monte,
Speaker:which is actually under Monsanto, you know the
Speaker:thing. And I was like, really? I'm already
Speaker:doing most of these things and I don't eat Del
Speaker:Monte. Is there anything else? And I was like, you guys have
Speaker:my blood work. Y'all didn't compare. And they was like,
Speaker:no. I was like, well then I want my deposit back back, because
Speaker:this is useless. They gave me, they wrote me a check back. I
Speaker:was like, thanks. But you know, because it was pointless information.
Speaker:I was there for like five minutes and it didn't make sense. So
Speaker:like, I'm waiting for that to happen.
Speaker:What is it that you're waiting for in the future?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: So I'm, I'm, I, I wait for nothing. And people that are around
Speaker:me, well, I mean it's, it's, people are like, you move at the speed of light. If
Speaker:something comes out, I'm the, I'm the first, I'm an early adopter. I,
Speaker:I, I go, if it's new, I have more microphones
Speaker:than, than people even know exist. And it's because I try
Speaker:everything. And it's the same thing with, with medical
Speaker:stuff. So that's a great space because there's so much innovation. If
Speaker:there's a test, like I'm out there doing these crazy full body,
Speaker:full body MRIs that do a scan and you see
Speaker:things years, years into the future. If you're going to have cancer in five
Speaker:years, this will tell you five years early. Like it's stuff like that. There's,
Speaker:there's a test called a gallery test and it screens
Speaker:for like 60 plus different markers for different types of
Speaker:cancers. I do that every year, year. I'm 47.
Speaker:Is a normal quasi 47 year old gonna do this?
Speaker:No. But am I? Yes, because I want to know what's going on under
Speaker:the hood and I can't tell. And this will give you information
Speaker:and it'll save your life. It'll also give you feedback, your
Speaker:blood telling you what to eat. Is smart. Like
Speaker:all these tests and there's levels, which shows you. Your.
Speaker:Your glucose levels. Um, Cali Means and
Speaker:Casey Means are part of that project. You know the guys that wrote the
Speaker:book, the. That was talked about during the election, they're talking about
Speaker:the destruction of our food and the corruption and everything else.
Speaker:Uh, what. What everybody should be doing is investing
Speaker:pre. Proactively, like you're talking about with your
Speaker:blood work and. And. And not listening to some
Speaker:nutritionist or some meathead that's telling you the same thing they
Speaker:tell everybody else because they did a weekend seminar or they're
Speaker:certified in. In coaching on
Speaker:food. Give me a break. You know what? You know what the trick is? For food,
Speaker:it's really fairly simple for most people. Eat real
Speaker:stuff with one food group. I mean,
Speaker:that. That'll solve most of the problems for most of
Speaker:society. Stop eating crap out of packages. Like, that'll
Speaker:change your life. And it's. But people, they're like, no, man, it tastes
Speaker:good.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Uh, um.
Speaker:So with that being said, is there anything left that you want
Speaker:to leave the audience with before we dive into the final
Speaker:four? Yeah.
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: I mean, big picture, you guys, is fail
Speaker:faster, Meaning go out there and do the thing that you're scared of.
Speaker:If there's something you're scared of, it's probably the exact thing you should be doing right now.
Speaker:And this could be money. This could be your relationship.
Speaker:It could be. It, uh, could be your food. It could be making a choice to
Speaker:stop doing something. Like, when I stopped drinking, like, that was the thing that. That
Speaker:was the big domino. And I was afraid if I. If I do that,
Speaker:nobody will want to hang out, I won't be fun, and I'll never go
Speaker:on a date again. Ah. Uh, like, this is a terrible plan. This is
Speaker:going to be a m. I'll never have sex again. I better drink a
Speaker:lot. Like, it was like, this is all the thinking that goes
Speaker:on. And. And so what is that thing? And then go freaking
Speaker:kill that thing and. And launch that domino. If you haven't read
Speaker:Gary Keller's book, the One thing, go read the one thing and.
Speaker:And. And embrace the learnings that happen
Speaker:from those things that hurt the mistakes that you make. And go,
Speaker:oh, wow. It's not winning and learning. It's winning and. Sorry. It's
Speaker:not winning and losing. It's winning and learning. So if you're like, well,
Speaker:that might not work. Perfect. You'll learn something. So go do
Speaker:that. Do it faster. Do it sooner.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Got it. Awesome. So you ready

Speaker:does wealth mean to you?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: It means I own my time. I mean, ultimately, I. I
Speaker:own my time to do what I want, where I want, with whoever. Whoever I want, for
Speaker:as long as I want. And. And it's. I'm, uh,
Speaker:not forced in anything. My. My primary. My.
Speaker:My primary value is freedom. And it's. And it
Speaker:starts with freedom of my time so that I can go work on things that
Speaker:matter, so I can connect with people that matter. And. And my. So
Speaker:my life matters.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Nice.
Speaker:Number two, what was your worst money
Speaker:mistake?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: Holy crap. I literally have written books about this,
Speaker:so my worst money mistake.
Speaker:Uh, yeesh. You know, I. I
Speaker:spent time and money. It's. It's interesting because I've lost millions
Speaker:and tens of millions on all sorts of different things. And I've, you know,
Speaker:I'm the world's worst stock trader and flipper and all this stuff. But
Speaker:the. The biggest money mistake I made was. Was wasting money on
Speaker:college for somebody else. Like going to college and
Speaker:pursuing something to make somebody else happy. Mom, dad,
Speaker:people around me. Spending money. Biggest money
Speaker:mistake is spending money to make somebody else happy. Instead
Speaker:of investing in yourself and making yourself
Speaker:happy. If you're a happy person, other people are going to be
Speaker:happy. If you're just. Every time I give money to people,
Speaker:I'm like, whether it's a college or a family member, I'm like, man,
Speaker:that didn't make me happy. It just made me miserable. And. And
Speaker:so that usually it's. It's trying to
Speaker:make somebody else, you know, somebody else's agenda.
Speaker:And ultimately, you should be spending money and investing in
Speaker:yourself, on yourself. And then watch what happens when
Speaker:you ripple that into other people, because you'll start to ooze, like, through
Speaker:osmosis. Other people are. They're like, man, you're so happy.
Speaker:Like, what's up? And it's like, that's really powerful. Not, hey,
Speaker:here's. Here's 50 bucks. I want to buy some happiness.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Number three. What. I mean, is there a
Speaker:book that inspired you on your journey or change your
Speaker:perspective?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: One of my favorite books, it's by a guy named George Leonard.
Speaker:It's called Mastery. This. There's another one called Mastery by Robert Green.
Speaker:I'm talking about the one by George Leonard. George and I are both Akidokis.
Speaker:He's. He died, but we Both
Speaker:similar martial art. This book is about the.
Speaker:The. It's. It's about the mastery of. Of
Speaker:martial arts, mastery of life. And it's. There's a piece in there
Speaker:about plateauing, and it applies to everybody. Whether you're
Speaker:on at a dojo getting your butt whooped, or whether
Speaker:you're in life getting your butt whooped. You know, there's. There's this
Speaker:process we go through where when you're. When you're
Speaker:growing, when you're studying, when you're doing the work, we often end
Speaker:up up in a period of time doing something
Speaker:where it's the same thing. It feels like the same thing over and over.
Speaker:And we're like, man, I don't. I'm not making any progress. And
Speaker:it's called the plateau. And if you're willing to trust,
Speaker:if you're on the right path, if you're willing to trust that and keep doing the
Speaker:work, there's a moment where you pop to a different level.
Speaker:You're like, whoa, like, I didn't even do anything.
Speaker:Whether that's a martial art move or whether that's. That's something in
Speaker:life where you're like, man, I just made a whole bunch, like, a bunch of money just showed
Speaker:up. Like, the side effect. It's like magic. And that
Speaker:was because you. You stuck with the thing long enough. And
Speaker:it's like the universe said, are you really, really committed?
Speaker:And. And you just showed up and proved it over and over
Speaker:again that. That there's value in
Speaker:understanding that and living it and. And then. And trusting it
Speaker:in a deep way. So I've read the book multiple times. I think that
Speaker:that's a book every single human being should read.
Speaker:>> Anthony Weaver: Awesome. Yeah, I'll definitely have to read that one
Speaker:myself.

Speaker:what is your favorite dish to make?
Speaker:>> Damion Lupo: My favorite dish to make. So we were talking
Speaker:about, you know, this whole guacamole thing at
Speaker:Chipotle, and the reason Chipotle is the biggest
Speaker:producer of or consumer of avocados is because
Speaker:I have a. Like, an avocado fetish. And so I'll just go
Speaker:out there and, like, consume avocados. I pretty
Speaker:much will ask for avocados on. I'm. I mean, I've had it on
Speaker:everything. I've. I think I've had it on cereal, and I don't
Speaker:even eat cereal anymore, really. But it's like.
Speaker:It's the. The dish, and I. And I cook,
Speaker:and I like doing a lot of different things. But there's something about
Speaker:avocados. They're just. I, uh, mean, I make avocado
Speaker:pudding. I make avocado, you know, like, it's
Speaker:unbelievable. You take avocados, put some cacao in there. You want to talk
Speaker:about primal, epic food that'll make your body sing
Speaker:with energy and protein and everything. Cacao,
Speaker:avocado, a little bit of salt, some dates mashed
Speaker:in. Like, you get this pudding and you're like, this is a perfect food you can
Speaker:eat. You can live off of freaking avocado pudding your whole life. And it's
Speaker:amazing. So, you know, if you haven't tried it, definitely
Speaker:worth trying.
